Why do we need a Human Milk Analyzer?

With a Human Milk Analyzer, Mothers' Milk Bank of Tennessee can provide each NICU with the nutritional content of each bottle of milk that is delivered to their hospital. This will allow providers to select bottles of pasteurized donor human milk to match the optimal nutritional goals set for each individual infant treated in the NICU.

How would the analyzer be utilized?

Donor milk donations will be analyzed for nutritional content. Depending on the amount of energy, protein, fat or carbohydrates in that milk it is pooled together with other donors’ milk to create a tailored pool. The aim can either be to create an average pool so all milk delivered has roughly the same content or to create specialty products such as high protein donor milk batches.
