Jackson, TN – Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee opened a new donation site for approved milk donors in partnership with West Tennessee Healthcare Women's Center. The new Milk Drop Depot will provide a convenient place for pre-screened and approved milk donors to donate their frozen milk to Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee. Donations received at West Tennessee Healthcare Women's Center will be transported to Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee‘s facility in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit milk bank dedicated to providing safe, pasteurized donor human milk to the most vulnerable babies. The organization filters, mixes, bottles, pasteurizes and cultures donated breast milk from approved donors before distributing the donor milk to neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in Tennessee.
Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee is the state’s only nonprofit milk bank. The organization relies on support from the entire state to further advance their mission to serve all the NICU babies in Tennessee in need of human donor milk and support breastfeeding mothers.
“We are thrilled to partner with West Tennessee Healthcare Women's Center. This Milk Drop Depot will provide a convenient location for milk donors in the Jackson area to donate their extra breast milk. Expanding our reach will allow us to serve more medically fragile babies across the state,” said Susan Campbell, MD, IBCLC, and Executive Director of Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee.
The opening of the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee’s Milk Drop Depot was held on Aug. 16 at 2 p.m. at West Tennessee Healthcare Women's Center at 620 Skyline Dr., Jackson, TN. To learn more about donor screening and requirements, please visit milkbanktn.org.
