A Mission Driven Partnership
We are proud to announce the opening of a new Milk Drop Depot and Donor Milk to Go site at FLOW | Tennessee’s Center for Breastfeeding Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee. Through this partnership with Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee, families in the Knoxville area now have a convenient place to both donate breast milk and access pasteurized donor human milk in an outpatient setting.
At FLOW, approved milk donors can safely drop off frozen breast milk, which is transported to Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee’s processing facility in Murfreesboro for screening, pasteurization and testing. This new Milk Drop Depot makes it easier for generous mothers in East Tennessee to share the lifesaving gift of donor human milk with medically fragile and premature infants.
In addition to serving as a Milk Drop Depot, FLOW is now a Donor Milk to Go site, expanding access to pasteurized donor human milk beyond the hospital. This service supports infants with medical needs, feeding challenges or growth concerns who may benefit from donor milk in outpatient care.
Founded by Dr. Sarah Beth Eriksen, a board-certified pediatrician and one of the nation’s first physicians certified in breastfeeding and lactation medicine, FLOW shares a mission-driven commitment with Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee to evidence-based infant nutrition and family-centered care.
“We are overjoyed to be partnering with the Mothers’ Milk Bank of Tennessee to expand access to lifesaving donor milk for the smallest and sickest babies in our region—an evidence-based intervention that dramatically improves survival and reflects FLOW’s mission to strengthen the health of families throughout our entire region,” said Dr. Eriksen.
